Dog Grooming at home
Hi everyone, Omega here! I’m back with some great advice and tail wagging wisdom. This week I had a lovely wash and blow dry with our groomer at Happy Irish Dogs, my doggy daycare centre. I love a good bath, especially when I get to shake afterwards and soak the lovely girl who grooms me. She thinks it’s hilarious (at least I think she does!).
It’s that time of year when going out for a walk means getting muddy; parks are wet, paths are covered in puddles and fields are filled with muck. I love it. But my Dad isn’t quite as happy as me when I come home and trail mud through the house. When he can’t take me to the groomer, he always gives me a quick bath and brush at home. There’s lots of lovely products in our shop to make grooming your dog at home easy. Here’s some of my favourites:
Super Shampoos for dog grooming
TropiClean make a range of doggy shampoos that are really great for getting your dog clean and keeping their coat and skin healthy. My favourite is TropiClean Shed Control it keeps my coat really shiny, helps stop me shedding everywhere and also makes me smell amazing.
Brush up
There’s lots of brushes for different types of coats. Make sure you choose one that suits your dog. I like this slicker brush it helps to get any old hair off without pulling, so it doesn’t hurt when Dad brushes me.
Dry shampoo for dog grooming
If it’s too cold or Dad is too busy to give me a bath then sometimes he uses this dry shampoo: Dirty Dawg no rinse shampoo It gets me clean but without the hassle (or fun!) of a full bath. It’s full of vitamins too, so it’s great to keep my coat in tip top condition.
Dog Grooming from my ears to my toes
Keeping my ears clean is very important and it’s a spot that lots of owners forget about. To keep my ears clean and healthy, Dad uses this ear cleaner. If my nails need clipping he uses this nail clippers it’s safe to use because it’s designed so that it won’t clip them too short. So even if your owner isn’t a doggy expert, like my Dad, they’ll be able to use it easily.
Remember grooming your dog regularly keeps them healthy and also helps to keep your house clean. If they’re like me and love to play in the sand on the beach or in the ponds out on a walk, then grooming them at home is a necessity. No one likes a stinky dog! I hope you find something to suit your dog in the list above, but if you need any help remember my Dad is always ready with tips and advice about dog grooming. Just type your question into the chat box or ask him instore.
See you soon
